Black Bear in Spring Aspens, Lake Tahoe, California

I spend a great deal of time wandering the forests in the Lake Tahoe region where I live in search of bears. I very specifically frequent landscapes in which I hope to photograph these beautiful animals. I am looking for ideal conditions in which to compose an image of a bear. This morning, it all came together. I spotted this beautiful bear walking along a trail and followed her for almost two hours. As she wandered in the direction of a meadow and aspen groves I am familiar with, I left her and moved in a different direction in anticipation of her appearing in an idyllic spot. I was fortunate, as she wandered into a beautiful meadow of vibrant spring grasses lined with aspen trees. Amazing! What an experience, and what an image.
