Earth's Blood, Zion National Park, Utah

This unique image was taken during a Fall excursion in Left Fork Canyon, Zion National Park, Utah. Combining the long hike, crisscrossing a river along the way, and photography time, this was an 11 hour excursion. This particular spot is found near the end of the hike. This is about an eight inch wide crack in the solid stone canyon floor, which has whitewater rushing through it. In subdued canyon light, shooting slow speed film, I was able to extend the exposure to 2 seconds, causing the water to blur into a mystical, silky fog.
