emerald bay moonlit

I'm always hoping to create images of iconic locations (and few are more iconic than Emerald Bay) that are unique. This was an inspired image. I moved beyond the desire to include the moon in my photograph and became enamored with the the other-worldly tone of the moonlight imbued upon the scene. Using 4x5 inch sheet film enabled me to use a very long exposure, giving a silky smooth look to the surface of the water, as well as softening and accentuating the shape of the lenticular clouds. There is a glow to this scene that provides an almost historic mood. This is special.
