Wildflowers, Merced River Canyon, California

After years of visiting Yosemite Valley, I finally took the opportunity to visit the Merced River Canyon just south of the park. I was quite taken by the volume of wildflowers, namely the California Poppy, blanketing the hillsides. This image, captured on 4x5 inch film, is a tapestry of color. There is a beauty in the chaos that I find inviting. This is Spring in the Sierras!
