Autumn Glory, Grand Tetons Black and White

I seam to be "seeing" in a more classic way these days. This image was shot on 4x5 inch black and white film using the traditional Zone System made famous by Ansel Adams. After exposing for the shadows, I then processed the film by hand (n+2) for the highlights. Translation, I saw this iconic scene, capped by an amazing cloud display, and had to create a black and white image. I chose to use traditional means as I think this craft does the best job of translating the beauty I see into a final print. I also happen to enjoy, and take pride in, the craft of photography that is quickly being lost. This image represents the majesty the Grand Tetons posses, and I hope it shares the feelings of awe that bring me to this place year after year. Enjoy the View!
